Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Assists the Health and Wellness Staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating an efficient Wellness Program consistent with student needs and Job Corps goals and requirements.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Medical Examination of students
- Screens patients and refers them to Center Physicians, Dentists, Health and Wellness Managers, or Career Counselors
- Observe, record, and report patient vital signs, symptoms, and behaviors
- Performs first aid treatment as needed
- Assist the Physician with patient exams; prepare the patient for tests and examinations
- Guide the students with personal health and hygiene
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications
- Maintain medical equipment and inventory of supplies and medications
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Provide input for case management of student health issues
- Promote projects that support health and safety throughout the center

Skills and Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge of nursing techniques and practices
- Knowledge of current state and federal laws regulating health care and patient privacy (HIPPA)
- Ability to effectively interact with students and staff
- Capacity to handle multiple priorities
- Excellent customer service skills: strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to carry out directions; strong decision-making skills
- Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Educational Requirements/Experience:
- Must possess an Active State LPN License
- One year of healthcare experience preferred
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
- Must possess a Current CPR and First Aid Certification
