Admissions Clerk (Part-Time)

Salary Range: $17.75 To $17.75 Hourly
 

Summary of Position Functions:

Performs complex administrative tasks and provides administrative support to a department head, or manager. May also train clerical support staff. 

 

Schedule: Part-Time, Monday-Friday, 4-Hour Days, 20-Hours Total Weekly 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Types up business letters, memorandums, reports, charts, etc.
  • Composes and prepares routine correspondences for signatures.
  • Establishes and maintains confidential files and records.
  • Proofreads and corrects grammatical, punctual, and spelling errors.
  • Maintains calendars and schedules appointments; sends/receives incoming and outgoing mail and faxes; and follows up on dates for action items.
  • Attends departmental meetings; takes notes, prepares and distributes meeting minutes.
  • Orients new personnel to Job Corps as well as the center’s policies and procedures.
  • Answers telephone and directs calls to the appropriate people.
  • Orders and maintains office supplies and equipment. 
  • Operates office machines and instructs others in doing so also.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Ability to generate standard business letters, forms, contracts, proposals, presentations, etc. 
  • Strong understanding and ability to use Internet search engines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Meticulous documentation, and recording skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing, Outlook, etc. 
  • Ability to operate office equipment 

 

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years’ experience preferred 
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

  • Sitting, standing, moving about, or walking for occasional, or frequent periods
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Kneeling, and bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead 
  • Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and, or lifting light objects

  • Indoor and outdoor environment
