Career Services Director

Wage: $72,500-$75,000/Annually

Summary of Position Functions:

Plans, directs and administers the Career Services Program which includes: Academic and Career Technical Training, Advanced Career Training, Occupational Career Training, Counseling, and the Career Preparation Period.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Plans, organizes, directs and administers the Career Services Program.
  • Provides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for assigned staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Establishes the Career Services Program’s mission and strategic plan, objectives, goals; and evaluates program effectiveness.
  • Oversees the introductory phase in the program for new arrivals.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the Center Director and is a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Plans, organizes, and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to ensure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures. 
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze problems, identifies alternative solutions, assigns accountability and implements recommendations.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply principles of conflict resolution to resolve interpersonal problems that arise.
  • Strong analytical skills in evaluation of academic and vocational programs, policies, operations and systems.
  • Working knowledge of academic and vocational education programs, policies and practices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of organizations administration and personnel management.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of management practices and principles; proven ability to lead and support teams.
  • Working knowledge of the methods and practices of Job Corps administration or a similar program.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals and objectives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of effective instructional strategies, classroom management and content field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.
  • Proven ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget.
  • Capacity to set and enforce accountability.
  • Proficient in the use of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite, Cost Point, Outlook, ADP, Citrix, and others)

 

Educational Requirements/Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social services or a related field.
  • Three years’ related experience; one of which was in Management, and Director capacity.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Activities:

  • Reading, writing and communicating fluently in English

  • Sitting, standing, moving about or walking for occasional or frequent periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead
  • Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Campus and general office setting
  • Indoor and outdoor environment
  • May be required to work a flex schedule to include evenings and/or weekends
