Summary of Position Functions:
Assists the Dentist with direct primary care dental services to the students.
Schedule: Tuesday 5-Hour Day, Thursday 5-Hour Day (10-Hour Work Week, Each Week)
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary oral examinations for students
- Examine, scale and polish teeth
- Educate students on good oral hygiene and provide other preventative dental care services
- Monitor the condition of, and sterilize the dental equipment
- Conduct the weekly Dental Education/Orientation Program for students in their first week of the Career Preparation Period
- Schedule all new student intakes for their 45/75-day T2 Dental Exams
- Conduct triage of sick calls and schedule off center dental visits in the absence of the Dentist.
- Organize and facilitate monthly Student Wellness Committee Meetings

Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated competence in the concepts, techniques, and procedures of Dental Hygiene
- Capacity to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions/directions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form
- Ability to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Dentist
- Ability to build rapport with patients
- Meticulous record-keeping and strong organizational skills
- Proficient using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Educational Requirements/Experience:
- State Licensed/Certified Dental Hygienist
- One-year work-related experience
- Valid NYS Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
