2021 Smart Business Seminar: The Mental Health Impact of COVID-19 on the US Workforce: Tips and Strategies to Improve Mental Wellness - Presented by Dr. Aaron Rakow
In this presentation, attendees will benefit from an overview of concrete organizational wellness strategies designed to (1) identify needs (2) boost morale, (3) reduce burnout and fatigue, and (4) support a sense of organizational cohesiveness. Specifically, HR professionals will be provided with an introduction to the building blocks needed to more effectively support the mental health and wellness of the teams they represent and how to effectively evaluate organizational and employee wellness. Specific topics will include the identification of positive ways to work through stress at work, how to promote healthy relationships within the workplace, and how to avoid negative thinking traps. Attendees will also learn about relevant evidence-based mental health and wellness resources available in our region.
Dr. Aaron Rakow is the Executive Director of the MindWell Center and a licensed clinical psychologist and cognitive-behavioral therapist. Dr. Rakow’s clinical expertise focuses on working with children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Rakow brings years of experience to the MindWell team including as the former Director of the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Service at Children’s National Medical System and as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown University. Dr. Rakow previously co-founded College Steps (2009), a non-profit organization with a mission to advance the promotion of higher education and independent life skills for college aged young adults living with autism and developmental disabilities. Dr. Rakow also co-founded InSite Solutions (2013), a non-profit organization with a mission to provide school-based mental health services and consultative support for underserved populations of Washington, DC. InSite Solutions was merged with MedStar Health in 2018 to form the WISE Center which collectively supports school-based mental health at over 50 schools in high-need communities throughout Washington, DC. Dr. Rakow is a native to Ithaca, NY and alumnus of Cornell University where he studied Human Development (2001). |
